1. Is Momentum Resources a fit for me?

  1. Are you seeking less than full-time work (e.g. part-time or job share) and flexibility as a chosen career path, not as a stop-gap measure while seeking full-time opportunities?
  2. Do you have several years of successful, professional work experience (college degree preferred)?
  3. Are you looking to work in the Richmond or Northern Virginia?
  4. Is your experience in a core business area (e.g. accounting, advertising, communications, finance, human resources, law, marketing, process management, project management, public relations, sales, training, or another similar area)?

If you answer “Yes” to all of the above questions, you may be a good fit to partner with Momentum Resources in your career search.

2. Who pays Momentum Resources? Do I pay anything?

No, our candidates never pay us for our services (all of our fees are paid by our clients/employers).

4. What happens once I submit my resume to Momentum Resources?

Once you’ve completed the online form and submitted your resume, we contact you for a phone interview. This enables us to learn more about you and your experiences. We will contact you if we need additional information and/or when we identify a potential position for you. When we get close to a potential match, you’ll be invited to our office for a behavioral interview, asked to submit references, and provide consent for Momentum Resources to run a criminal background check.

5. What can I expect about getting a job?

As you know, professional part-time roles are a novel concept (today), which yields more candidates than open positions at this point in our process. We continue to advocate and educate companies about the value of flexibility in the workplace and how they would benefit from adding experienced, part-time associates (YOU) to their team.

We absolutely view our relationship with you as a partnership. You are your #1 best recruiter, so we encourage you to keep networking and researching opportunities. Together, we will find the right fit. When we have line of site to an opportunity for you, we will invite you in for a more in-depth interview.

6. What is a skills-based resume?

A Skills Based resume (also referred to as a Functional resume) is a resume that is organized by your skills, not by a chronological listing of your job history. Your resume is your most important tool in the initial stages of your job search! Skills based resumes are especially effective for individuals who have stepped out of the workforce and are seeking to re-enter, as well as individuals who are seeking to change their career direction.

Take a look at an example of a skills-based resume.

7. Does Momentum Resources help with resume writing?

We do not provide resume writing as a service, but are happy to provide feedback if requested. Check out our Resources for Professionals page for links to resources that can help you create the best possible resume.

8. What type of placements does Momentum Resources make?

Momentum Resources makes:

  1. contractor placements
  2. contractor to hire placements
  3. permanent part-time placements
  4. permanent full-time flexible placements

(With a contractor placement you will be a W-2 employee of Momentum Resources or a 1099. With a permanent placement, you will be employed directly by our client.)

9. Do I get to meet with an employer before I accept a role?

Yes! We never submit your resume to an employer without discussing the position with you first. Then if the employer is interested based on your resume, we will schedule an interview with you and the employer.

10. If I’m hired, are benefits offered?

It varies. Some employers offer benefits for employees who work less than full-time and some do not. If it is critical that you find a role with benefits, please make us aware of your need.
